Based on a story about 2 Virginians in the post-Civil War Texas, devised by Michael Blankfort and Lewis Meltzer who also adapted it for the wide screen (with help by the famous journalist, writer and actor Horace Stanley McCoy).
Filmed at the Balkins and the Columbia Ranch in California, directed by the prolific George Marshall.
The movie is closely connected (as a follow-up) with the film ARIZONA (also starring William Holden, 1940) and THE MAN FROM COLORADO (also starring both William Holden and Glenn Ford, 1948)
