The desert safari was probably my favourite touristy thing to do here in Dubai . The safari excursion starts off with the driver coming to pick you up in a 4X4 at around 3:30. You then stop at a service station where you meet with the other 4X4's from the same company. The drive to the desert takes around 40 minutes. The order of how things happen depend on the company you have booked through. Once in the desert, the dune bashing takes around 35 mins. It amazes me how the drivers control the jeeps. Our driver was the leader of the group and certainly enjoyed showing off, having 4 girls in the jeep with him. Once the the dune bashing is completed there is opportunities for sand boarding, visiting a camel farm, camel riding and quad bikes. You are also taken to the top, to see the sun set. You will proceed to the traditional Bedouin campsite in the heart of the Dubai desert, where you enjoy Arabic kava coffee and other refreshments upon arrival. Within camp there is the opportunity to dress in local dress and henna painting. There is also Sheesha (Smoking through the pipe) should you wish. The entertainment in the camp is great, with a good belly dancing show and a lovely cooked barbeque dinner to end the evening with. There are also unlimited soft drinks available throughout the evening. The night ends with the lights switched off and the opportunity to look at the stars in the sky in the desert. The average price for a desert safari in dubai is around £35 or 200 Dirham.
