Bolot Bayryshev_song "Wanderer"_1991.
Bolot Bayrishev sings of the beauty of their homeland Altai, of the "golden lakes", the Kautun River, the Ak-Sümer Mountain (the highest peak in the Altai Mountains) and the old "Pasirik" - these are the hill graves where the defenders of the Altai are buried. Bolot sings of their people, small though it is in number, and of mankind, nature, the cosmos, and the entity they all form. He opens the hidden depths of his soul and combines poetry with music. Bolot is a throat singer who uses modern music to promote old Altai style "kai" (epic telling through trhtoat overtone sinfging). He is an Honored artist of Russia and the Altai Republic, winner of the UNESCO prize for unique arts and of many all-Russian and international ethnic music festivals and contests. Bolot is well known in Europe and Japan where he released his latest CDs. At 31 March 2011 he and a young Altai kaichi (epic teller) and shaman Arzhan Kezerekov will give a concert in the III Mantras Festival "Shamans of Asia@ in Theatro Fernan Gomes, Madrid, Spain.
