Part 1 of 3 of the Inspector Wexford mystery from 1990. Wexford stumbles across the body of a man when walking his daughter's dog in the woods. It turns out to be that of Charlie Hatton, who was due to be best man at his friend's wedding that day, and who Burden had seen coming out of a pub with his friends that very night for their stag do. For Wexford, it's a particularly difficult time, as his wife Dora is ill in hospital awaiting tests. While visiting her there, he is called in by a doctor to see a patient who has just come round from a coma. She was involved in a car crash that killed her husband and daughter. Although her memory is hazy, she insists her daughter isn't dead. But if the woman in the car wasn't her daughter, then who was she?
Starring George Baker, Christopher Ravenscroft, Louie Ramsey, Diane Keen, Barbara Leigh-Hunt, Richard Graham, Shirin Taylor, Tony Haygarth, Jonathan Barlow, John Carter, Stephen Boxer, John Vine, Clara Salaman, Deborah Poplett, Emma Smith and Noah Huntley. This is easily one of the best Wexford mysteries, and one of the most perplexing. During filming of this George Baker's own wife was in hospital having treatment for cancer, while Noah Huntley injured himself on his motorbike midway through filming, but still continued to perform in the show through painkillers. Please note, this is from an old video tape of mine, so there may be glitches at times. It was originally from a feature length video I had, but I thought that to make it easier for viewers I would edit them into their original 3 part format, using the opening and closing credits from the tape and from a ITV3 recording to make them as episodes. Hiopefully they will be easier for viewers to enjoy.
