Part 1 of 4 of the Lord Peter Wimsey mystery from 1975. Lord Peter and his manservant are holidaying in Gallloway in Scotland, which is also a haven for budding artists. While there they encounter the quarrelsome Sandy Campbell, one of the said painters, who ends up making enemies with a number of people one night. The next day Wimsey discovers him dead down the bottom of a cliff, his easel and painting still at the top of the cliff. Originally believing it was an accident, Wimsey soon realizes that it is in fact murder, and he has six chief suspects who could of done it - only problem is all seem to have a perfect alibi...
Starring Ian Carmichael, Glyn Houston, Ian Ireland, David Rintoul, Donald Douglas, John Junkin, Clive Graham, Russell Hunter, David McKail, Susan Macready, James Copeland, Sally Kinghorn and Jake D'Arcy. This was the last of the Ian Carmichael adaptations, and any future adaptations were vetoed by the BBC as they deemed Carmichael too old to play the role. Although this mystery does suffer from one terrible bit of casting - Russell Hunter, mainly due to his ludicrous false beard making him look like a cross between Cousin It and OddBod Junior from Carry on Screaming - it's still a cracking mystery, and hopefully one to keep viewers absorbed over Christmas. Please note, these are from old video tapes I had of the series, so apologies for any picture quality issues you may encounter.
