This video features the excellent clarinetist and bandleader Benny de Weille (1915-77) whose great example was Benny Goodman. De Weille studied in Holland and played in several orchestras while over there before returning to Germany in 1938. He played with the Teddy Stauffer orchestra and from 1940 onward recorded under his own name for Odeon. One of his most famous recordings is the 1943 "Heute macht die ganze Welt Musik für mich" which recorded in true Glenn Miller style. After the War he continued his career and became a director at Polydor.
The singer featured on "Wo bist Du?" (Where are you?) is Kary Barnet (1923-72) born Charlotte Alzbeta Tremlová (in German Charlotte Elisabeth Treml) in Prague. A great beauty she starred in 2 Chzech movies before becoming a recording artist under the name Kary Barnet. She recorded with some of the best bands in Germany such the de Weille orchestra and Adolf Steimel. By all accounts she led an adventurous life. More information can be found here (in German)
