Occupy Wall St March of 14.10.11.
At apx 6:30 am, it was announced in the General Assembly (GA) that Brookfield Properties was not going to force an eviction under the guise of "park-cleaning".
Around 7:30 or so, the pent-up energy of the hundreds of protestors packed cheek to jowl exploded into two unscheduled and, as usual, unpermitted marches: one going north on Broadway, the other going south.
This is footage from the south-bound march. In front of 33 Beaver St, the protestors, fed up from harassment eariler in the day, and being chased and herded by a phalanx of cop-cycles, decided to turn in protest and stand their ground.
There were a good many hot-heads on both sides. As you can see, a few protestors pushed the cycles, resulting in escalation which suddenly resulted in a rush-attack by the police.
Key points to notice here:
1) The protestor who you can see getting arrested is mostly passive.
2) The aggressiveness of the protestors in no way justifies the brutality seen here and in later clashes.
3) The Press is denied access to view and record the beating, arrest, and handling of this protestor. indeed, they are chased off with night-sticks.
4) The (green-hat) member of the lawyers guild was denied access to protect her client.
