Threshold is an English Progressive Metal band. They are leaders since the early 90's in the Progressive Metal scene in UK and has followed the path of American bands like Queensrÿche and Dream Theater. They have evolved a lot during their career and had several line up switch but the core of guitarist Karl Groom and Keyboardist Richard West remains intact. This was the last album with Andrew McDermott on board before Damian Wilson comes back into the band as the lead singer.
"Pilot in the Sky of Dreams" is a long progressive song with a really good feel. The core of the song is pretty simple but they had many instrumental sections that brings the track to a whole new level. The vocal of M. McDermott fits in perfectly, he has a lot of emotions in his vocal, his tone is sweet and he doesn't need to push too much his limits to be interesting. There's some heavy riffing thrown in the mix while you'll notice smooth piano parts as well. The intro builds up with efficiency while the outro brings back the beautiful piano intro after the last soulful guitar solo of the piece. "Dead Reckoning" was released in 2007 and its definitely a record you want to listen in full.
