Сухуми в 1950-е Фотографии Cемен Фридлянд Sukhumi in 1950 Photographs by Semyon Friedland Here I present a wonderful series of photographs of Sukhumi taken by the great Soviet photo-journalist Semyon Friedland in 1950. The city was famous throughout the Soviet Union as a prominent subtropical beach resort, with palm trees,, botanical gardens and citrus plantations, backed by the high alpine peaks of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Sukhumi or Sokhumi is a city in western Georgia and the capital of Abkhazia, a disputed region on the Black Sea coast.
