Hello everyone on the ‘Russian draughts channel’. I’m Arthur! In this video we’re going to see how to capture the opponent’s king with friendly three kings. This way is called The Montero method – which is in Russian is The Petrov Triangle. We can use it if the strongest opponent is having the line a1 – h8.
The algorithm is as follows:
The first step: to occupy a7-g1 and h2-b8
The second step: to occupy a3-f8 and c1-h6
And the last one: to build the triangle
The kings of the strongest are on a1, c1, e1, and the opponent’s king is g1. Firstly we should make it to the road b8-h2: the king from c1 to f4. The opponent goes g1-c5. Then we move e1-g3. The opponent moves c5-b6. Now we can move our king to one of the corners, for example, g3-h2. In order to not let us on the road a7-g1, the opponent goes b6-g1. Now we do f4-d6. The opponent is forced to go to the c1-h6 road with g1-e3 step. If it’s g1-a7, then after h2-g1 the black checker is captured: a7-b8, g1-h2, b8-f4 and h2 is moving to e5 with the win.
After we force our opponent to move g1-e3, we can make it h2-g1. The black king has to move to h6 or c1, For example, the black one goes h6, when we go g1-c5, pairing our kings on the road a3-f8. Now the other’s king is forced to go to g5 or d2. But not c1, because it can be captured this way: a1-b2, c1-a3, d6-f8 – it’s done. For example, the opponent’s king’s moved to the road d8-h4 through h6-g5, so we should occupy the parallel road: e1-a5 through a1-c3. Now the black piece has only two squares to leave: d8 and h4. If that piece goes d8, we should go c5-e3, making a triangle. If it goes h4, we go d6-f4, making a triangle as well. After building a triangle, the black king has to move from h4 to e1 or d8. For example, it’s e1, so we move to the opposite c3-a5. The black piece moves to h4, we threaten it – c5-f2. The black king captures h4-e1, then we pretend to surrender f4-d2. The black king makes a move to c3 and – it’s captured.
So that’s how you can use The Monthero method to capture the opponent’s king. That’s all for now, thanks everyone for watching! Subscribe, like and goodbye everyone!
