This was the 2nd strut that needed a replacement in under 9 months of minimal to normal use. The 1st one blew and oil ran back through the air lines and out of the slow down valve in the trunk and sprayed oil everywhere. The 2nd one detached itself from the strut mount twice while I was driving. This is because the damper shaft is two pieces and a bolt screws into it at the top. It somehow loosened and came apart.
Everything bolted up fine but there is a gap between the mounting spot the two bolts run through and the brake assembly. I put a washer on the inside to fill the gap and everything is ok now.
airbait.com (A.I.M. Industries) has the worst customer service and warranty policies. Both times I was responsible for the shipping both ways and at first they wanted me to pay the $399 for a new strut both times. They try and spin it that it's your fault or this is the 1st their hearing of these issues. They try and weasel their way out of replacing everything. They even ended up reusing the bag portion of my old strut too to save materials. You spend more time on hold then talking to a representative. Every time you call them it takes them forever to pull the order you placed or just spoke with them about the previous/same day. This isn't even including the numerous bag fitting and valves I had to call them to get replacements for. It's a wonder why they have an "F" Better Business Bureau rating.
The only reason their products were used is because I had a shop get/install the air ride kit. This was just the one they went with so now i'm stuck going through them for everything.
