‘Whisky Moon’
Oh the light in the cold grey sky
Draws shadows on the silent brave
Mother earth drinks teardrops dry
Her wild green blanket hides the graves
Time is in the lost and found
Stumbling through without a word
Comfort hands the bottle round
Sorrow’s drunk, too drunk to hurt
Whisky moon is reaching down
To sing her prayers into the night
Church her candle, stars her town
And everything will be alright
Hearts will break and peace will mend
Truth will out when the sky falls in
Glory flies with broken wings
And dust will cover every sin
Move your mountains, dress your wounds
Morning comes, she always does
Wake your memories, sing your blues
Such is life and such is love
Hearts will break and peace will mend
Truth will out when the sky falls in
Glory flies with broken wings
And dust will cover every sin
