A father-of-one who spent £10,000 converting an M&S lorry into a house has been ordered to remove it after his neighbours demanded he remove the 'eyesore' from his mother's front garden. Iftikhar Azam, 43, outraged neighbours in Sheldon, Birmingham, after he took down a fence so he could park up the 40ft trailer in the middle of the night. He had spent six months painstakingly refurbishing the 18-year-old refrigerated vehicle so it included a shower, a dishwasher and even a lift. The site engineer lived in his creation near a car wash for two years while he did up another property. But after moving it to his mother's house in the Sheldon area of the city, he was ordered by council bosses to remove the 'eyesore' structure - or face court action. Mr Azam, of Yardley Wood, Birmingham said: 'I think it looks good. I did it up to a decent standard so I could live in it when I was looking for a home. 'I put in a kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, built-in appliances, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a living room and a lift as there was already one there to stack pallets. 'It wasn't meant to be here that long, a sale fell through. A friend was meant to take it to Scotland but he changed his mind. 'I'm not around it very much while I try to sell it, but my mum keeps getting told by neighbours that it's an eyesore and it needs to go. 'I think it looks fine though, I don't know what all the fuss is about really. People should be praising my ingenuity. 'The council haven't actually issued me with a charge notice yet, but I think they will soon so I need to sell it really. 'I bought the trailer for £3,000 and spent about £7,000 doing it up. I went bit-by-bit while I lived in it, it took about six months.
