Travis - a modern day Hercules - shows us some of his strongman stunts. L/S of Travis attached to two lots of horses. The horses try and run in opposite directions but Travis is strong enough to stay put just by the strength of his arms. M/S of Travis being pulled in both directions. C/U of horses' hooves. L/S of Travis again being pulled this way and that. another of his feats of strength includes lifting what seems to be a very heavy weight. It is not an ordinary dumbbell, more ornate and much bigger - see still. He lifts the weight above his shoulders then four men come and hold on to is and lift their feet off the ground. He therefore carries all their weight on his shoulders. "Only 1,200 lbs folks, but look what happened to a 1,400 page directory. C/U of Travis holding up a telephone directory. He turns it towards the camera, flicks through the pages, then proceeds to rip it in half. He holds the ripped directory out to show the camera.
Was a Pathe Pictorial item.
Note: quintessential strong man stuff! He even wears the traditional one shouldered wrestling outfit and big belt.
Note: there are two "strong men" films in this can so might be easy to confuse them...
