They are very beautiful and fragile, if you don't photograph them when you find them it is inevitably too late if you leave it to another time. When I photographed these fungi I would have had with me, my two dogs, a daft red setter and an even dafter beagle, a picnic, a thin role out camping mattress, and a sleeping bag in case it was going to be cold. I either went early in the morning or the evening when the sun was low in the sky. Once I found a suitable fungus or group of fungi to photograph, I'd set up my camera, role out my mattress, lie down and wait for a shaft of light from the sun to make its way through the trees and illuminate the scene before me. I would normally be waiting such a long time that the dogs would get bored, lie down and go to sleep. The only warm place around was me, so the two of them would curl up on top of my back as I lay on the ground, which in turn kept me warm. I could stay that way for an hour or more watching the suns light as it slowly lit the scene before me. I always found this a wonderful time for relaxing, meditating and contemplating the beauty...
