Forgive the poor sound quality. We revived this rough pre-mix demo from an old cassette.
CALL BOX ABANDONED is a two man synth-band that originated in New Jersey, 1988. Their aural vision was inspired by the legendary post modern electronic sounds that were born in Europe during the late 1970's and into the early 1980's. CBA wrote melodic up beat danceable songs with deep lyrical explorations. The band has always understood the importance of synthesizers when it comes to modern musical expression and evolution. Inspired by bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, Kraftwerk, Erasure, Human League, a-ha and Duran Duran.
Originally having four members with conflicting schedules, Douglas DiPiero (song writer/ keyboards) felt it would be more productive to slim the band down to two members. It was then that CALL BOX ABANDONED was born! Douglas forged the instrumental textures and Hal added inventive vocals while both traded lyrical ideas. Over the next couple of years they would eventually record enough material for a full album. However, a lack of funds and college schedules would prevent the band from producing a completed pressed album.
Remarkably, Douglas and Hal actually lost touch for 15 years. It seemed that CALL BOX ABANDONED was all but forgotten. They have not recorded together since the early 1990's.
Now, twenty years since it all began, the members have finally reunited and are recording some new tracks. Though the band is divided by distance, Douglas lives in New Jersey and Hal lives in California, they are producing new music by trading digital performance tracks back and forth online. It seems only natural since the band has always embraced technology to make music.
