Protesters set fire to the flags of Kosovo, the European Union and the ruling Serbian Progressive Party in Belgrade on Saturday, during a nationalist march held to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the 2004 unrest and deadly violence in Kosovo, which they term the "March Pogrom."
SOT, Damnjan Knezevic, organiser (Serbian): "On March 17, 2004, Albanian terrorists with the silent support of the international community burnt monasteries in Kosovo and Metohija, they burnt down houses, Serbian houses. They killed more than 19 people on their doorstops just because they were Serbs."
SOT, Novica Antic, leader of Serbian Army trade union (Serbian): "Today's protest should've been supported by anyone who feels like a Serb, in particular by us, the soldiers who bled for Kosovo and who have left our colleagues and comrades in graves in Kosovo. It is of great and national significance and the core of our survival, the survival of the Serbian people, if we could gather around the idea of preserving Kosovo as an integral part of Serbia because it is our cradle."
SOT, Aleksander Damjanovic, Kosovo war veteran (Serbian): "My sacrifice is not in vain. I went there when I was only 19 years old because I loved my country. I have no other country but this one. I will defend it and I'll go there again if necessary."
