The best way of describing THE SHOW - A TRIBUTE TO ABBA is to let a true ABBA fan explain with his own words about his experience watching the show at the O2 World in Berlin 29th January 2009:
Hi Kenneth,
I am a fan of Abba since 1975 - see:
http://abbastory.blog.de
I have seen many cover bands but it was all the time: not really good but if I took it as a kind of "joke"
to celebrate Abba it was possible to stay.
So I did not came with high expectation to THE SHOW - A TRIBUTE TO ABBA. I had read about it but thought that more
or less it will be the same as the other Coverbands. Esp. I was curious infact of the Abba musicans.
And then a concert begun that I will probably never forget. I was fascinated first. I felt in Las Vegas
infact of this brilliant light show. And allready the start with the helicopter - the start of the 1977
concerts - the most missing thing in my Abba Career.
But I was falling more and more into this concert, I got goosebumbs one after another. I was not
able to believe what happened. I had to close my eyes at many times and had the feeling to be back
at the concert in Frankfurt 1979. But - the quality of your show was (and this is the part I dont wanna
write in the guestbook, I dont wanna be killed by other fans) much higher quality than Abba in 1979.
Ok, there is another technique in 2009 than in 1979, you had this orchestra with you, you had this
fantastic light show. However - I asked me if this is how Abba could look live in 2009 - and yes -
it is exactly how they could look on stage now. I really had tears in my eyes.
I only can congatulate you, the band and the whole team. And I hope you know that it is the first
time that I am able to say something like that and to give such a huge compliment to a band that is
"only a cover". But your show is not a cover - it is so much more.
For ex. I know how difficult it is to sing "The winner takes it all" even in a studio - but how "your"
Agnetha has sung it - amazing !
A friend (no Abba Fan) who was with me said after the concert: now it`s clear why Abba dont
wanna tour again - they have seen this show and could not be so good after so many
years. Ok, he got some protest from me but I think it is interesting how amazed he was even
being no fan.
Ok, some things could be a little different: I really missed "Just like that".
I am sure you would make 1000`s of fans happy with this song that was never released by Abba
but is for so many fans the best Abba Song ever. And infact it has a big saxophone part it would
be perfect for your show.
My wish: please come back to Berlin as soon as possible.
With all my best regards to the whole team
Thomas
