Previously, these machines were sold in many countries, including the US, but the current Vios of the third generation of the 2013 model is only available in Asian markets. And now in Thailand introduced a simplified Vios under the separate name Yaris Ativ. And to the European Yaris he has an indirect relationship. It would seem that nothing prevents from simply adding to the scale one more modification with a more modest engine. However, the company decided that to attract attention to the car, advertising and other activities it would be better to create a separate model - with a different appearance and a different name. It became Toyota Yaris Ativ. Despite the uniform basis, the new model does not have common body parts with Vios: the design is completely rethought, although not to say that for the better. Dimensions are almost unchanged: along the length (4425 mm) and the wheelbase (2,550 mm) is a classmate of Solaris and Polo-sedan. The interior is also redrawn, although the overall stylistics and proportions are the same as those of Vios. Under the hood of the 2018 Toyota Yaris Ativ - atmospheric "four" 1.2 with two phase shifter, known by other models of the brand. It produces 86 hp. and works in tandem with the non-alternative variator. There are other simplifications: for example, the rear brakes are exceptionally drum, although Vios in expensive versions has disk mechanisms.
