Paul Hodge’s HD video is Part 3 of a HD video three-part series chronicling the entire performance of the “Unidos Da Tijuca” Samba School at the Rio Carnival 2015 Samba School Parade Competitions in Rio’s Sambadromo. “Unidos Da Tijuca” is a samba school in Rio de Janeiro and represents the neighborhood of Tijuca in the Northern Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The school was founded in 1931, and its colors are blue and yellow. Its Drummers’ Queen is Christiane Torloni, the President is Milton Perácio and its Carnavalesco is Fábio Ricardo. For the 2016 Rio Carnival Samba School Parade Special Group championship, the school is scheduled to be the sixth and last school to perform on the Special Group's first day of competitions at
2:25 am the morning of Monday, February 8, 2016. The school's 2016 performance theme, “enredo” is entitled: “Sowing smile, Tijuca celebrates the sacred ground”. The theme is a celebration of agriculture and nature as well as a tribute to the city of Sorriso in the state of Mato Grosso. For the 2015 Rio Carnival Samba School Competitions, “Unidos Da Tijuca’s theme was entitled: ”A tale marked in time – The Swiss view of Clóvis Bornay”. Borney was a famous Carnival parade designer. His father was Swiss. The parade theme imagined a dream Bornay had about all the tales his father told him about Switzerland such as archer William Tell and St. Bernard dogs who rescued avalanche victims. In addition “Unidos Da Tijuca’s” theme also aimed to show that Switzerland is not only a cold country of kings and castles, but also the crib of invention and technological advancement.
