After more than 80 years, mother and daughter reunite
On February 11, 1933, Pierce gave birth to a baby when she herself was just a little girl. At the young age of 14, Pierce had Eva May. After spending six months caring for Eva, the state of New York took her away, deeming Pierce too young to properly raise her daughter.
Pierce went on to grow up into adulthood, marry and have seven children. However, she never forgot about the baby girl she gave birth to so many years before.
As for baby Eva, she was adopted as an only child and renamed Betty. By the time she was 21, both of Betty’s adoptive parents died, leaving her completely alone. There was a hole in her heart — but now it was one that could only be filled by finding her birth mother. Thus began Betty’s search for her biological mother, but it wouldn’t be easy. Not only was her adoption closed, but there was nothing and no one tying her to her bloodline.
One day, decades later, one of Betty’s aunts accidentally “slipped” and called her Eva. The clues began to snowball, until Betty was finally connected with one of her step-sisters.
In the video below, watch the incredible moment that took place in the lobby of the Greater Binghamton Airport — 82 years after Pierce was forced to give away her precious baby Eva…
