Malaysia’s palm oil board, Petronas to study use of palm waste for SAF
Malaysia’s palm oil board, Petronas to study use of palm waste for SAF In Malaysia, Reuters reported that Malaysia’s palm oil board and state oil company Petronas have signed an agreement with the aim of studying the use of used cooking oil and palm oil waste as sustainable aviation fuel. The two entities signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on August 14 to explore the potential of palm-based products and wastes, such as used cooking oil and palm oil mill effluent, as the main raw materials for local bio-refineries to produce SAF. “The signing of the MoU is also in line with the National Energy Policy 2022-2040 to reduce carbon emissions and make the energy sector a catalyst for the nation’s socioeconomic development,” the Malaysian Palm Oil Board said in a statement.

ICE canola futures rise despite weakness in rival soyoil
ICE canola futures rise despite weakness in rival soyoil WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Aug 24 (Reuters) - ICE canola futures climbed on Thursday, continuing a lengthy rally despite weakness in soybean oil, a commodity that often sets canola's price direction. Canola's gains were likely due to commercial buying to cover export sales, along with technical buying, a trader said. November canola RSX3 added $3.40 to settle at $809.90 per metric ton. Harvesting of canola is underway in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, the provincial government said. November-January canola spread, the most active inter-month spread, traded 2,275 times. Chicago soybean futures firmed for a second straight session, supported by strong exports and supply uncertainty as hot, dry weather cast uncertainty over U.S. prospects. Euronext November rapeseed futures /COMX3 lost ground. *All figures in Canadian dollars unless noted

China to Import More Indonesian Palm Oil in 2024: Gapki
China to Import More Indonesian Palm Oil in 2024: Gapki Jakarta. China will likely purchase 8 million tons of Indonesian palm oil in 2024 after imports suffered a decline amid the Covid-19 pandemic, according to an association of the commodity’s producers. Beijing has been the top buyer of Indonesian palm oil by country since 2019 with imports reaching 8.15 million tons that year. However, the pandemic caused China to import less palm oil from the Southeast Asian nation. The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) reported that China only bought 6.17 million tons of palm oil from Indonesia in the Covid-hit 2020. The figures then slightly picked up to 6.65 million tons in 2021 and shrank to 6.35 million tons a year later. Indonesia has exported 3.35 million tons of palm oil to China as of the first half of 2023...... https://jakartaglobe.id/business/china-to-import-more-indonesian-palm-oil-in-2024-gapki
