In his opinion, such a document will become a new transit and logistics code of the Eurasian space and will accommodate the interests of the Commonwealth countries. In his speech, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of upgrading existing infrastructure, streamlining administrative procedures and introducing integrated logistics solutions, including digital ones, in order to strengthen the transit potential of the member countries.
The president of Kazakhstan also spoke about efforts to ensure food security. “We should step up cooperation to promote more productive and environmentally friendly agriculture. It is necessary to create the necessary conditions to exchange best practices, build production and supply chains, and ease phytosanitary and veterinary requirements,” the president of Kazakhstan emphasized.
According to him, the climate change poses serious risks to sustainable development of nations. “In the context of environmental degradation, desertification, and water depletion in many CIS countries, this problem should not been talked down,” the Kazakh leader noted. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that consolidation of joint efforts is needed to overcome the consequences of environmental disasters in the Eurasian space. He deems it extremely important to intensify constructive interaction in this area within the CIS.
The leader of Kazakhstan called the introduction of partner and observer statuses in the CIS a highlight of the current meeting, as it indicates the maturity of the organization and marks its transition to a qualitatively new stage of development. Acknowledging the growing geopolitical tensions, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed to increased volatility in the world economy. According to him, Kazakhstan opposes the use of economic sanctions, which have a negative impact on global trade and prosperity of nations.
