Scam Block and Scam Shield services do not prevent scam or spam text messages. These services are designed to block scam calls and identify potential scam calls as "Scam Likely.
For blocking or reporting scam text messages, you can use the following steps:
Report SMS Spam:
Copy the original spam message.
Create a new message to 7726 (SPAM).
Paste the copied text and send the message.
Use the Scam Shield App:
While the app primarily focuses on calls, you can still report spam texts through it.
Block Numbers Manually:
On your device, you can manually block numbers that send spam texts.

f you use 7726 (SPAM) to report the number and enable Spam Protection on your phone, here's what happens, but it's important to clarify that these actions don't exactly "reject" or "bounce back" the message to the sender.
he carrier investigates the report, and depending on their system, they might block or flag the sender's number as a spammer. However, this does not bounce the message back to the sender. It prevents future messages from that sender by blocking them, but the current spam message will still be delivered to your mom's phone unless she has already blocked that number.
To ensure spam doesn't reach your mom’s phone at all, block the number directly from the message thread and enable Spam Protection in the Messages app. Let me know if you need help with any of these steps!
