📚 Answering questions in IELTS reading

These questions belong to a group of tasks that require reading the questions first. Also, these answers are in order in the reading passage.
You should stick to the following plan:
✔Read the question first
✔Identify a keyword or keywords in the question
✔Think of possible synonyms
✔Read the passage and find the sentence containing these keywords or their synonyms. These keywords will be followed by the correct answer.
EXAMPLE:
TASK: Answer the question.
Question 11: When seeing was difficult, what did we use our sense of smell to find?
WHAT TO DO?
✔Read the question first
When seeing was difficult, what did we use our sense of smell to find? (This sentence states that we used smell to find SOMETHING when it was difficult to see it.)
✔Identify a keyword or keywords in the question
When seeing ☹ was difficult, what did we use our sense of smell to find? (These words and 1 symbol bear the meaning of the entire sentence.)
✔Think of possible synonyms
'Seeing' can possibly be 'eyesight'. 'Difficult' can be 'hard or limited'. The synonym to 'find' is 'identify'.
✔Read the passage and find the sentence containing these keywords or their synonyms. These keywords will be followed by the correct answer.
Reading passage: Like most animals, we drew on our sense of smell, when visual information (=seeing) was scarce (=limited = difficult), to single out (=find) PREY.
And we are looking for something that we found with the help of smell when visual information was scarce (=seeing was difficult) So, the answer is PREY.
Synonyms here:
seeing = visual information
difficult = scarce (although these 2 words cannot be considered synonyms, in this context they are synonyms.)
find = single out
