"Their flesh reaches not Allah, nor does their blood, but it is your righteousness that reaches Him. Thus has He subjected them to you, that you may glorify Allah for His guiding you. And give glad tidings to those who do good."
(alislam . org/quran/22:38)
--
We are celebrating Eid ul Adha, which is also called Eid of sacrifice. Muslims are sacrificing (and will sacrifice) millions of animals in Mecca and other countries.
--
This sacrifice is part of worship and it is due to Allah’s commandment. Those who are not doing Umrah and Hajj, but they have the ability, it is good for them to sacrifice animals.
--
If sacrifices are done for worldliness and to show off and do not have the spirit of a mutaqi / righteous, then sacrifices are useless.
--
Allah does not need blood and meat of millions of animals. Does He give glad tiding of paradise by being happy to those who fulfill His need? In fact, He does not need anything.
--
If someone’s heart is empty of Taqwa / righteousness, or one slaughters dozens of animals in name of sacrifice, or if millions of animals are sacrificed in a country, they do not get the pleasure of Allah the Exalted.
--
Allah says the real thing is Taqwa. Allah accepts that sacrifice which is done with a sense of Taqwa. Sacrifice-doer should have in the heart that I am ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of Allah the Exalted. This animal is very minute as compared to a human, a low thing is sacrificed for a high one. I learn from it, I shall be ready for each sacrifice, for thing higher than me, for my high purpose, I shall be ready to act on the commandment of Allah the Exalted. I am learning from this sacrifice, my pledge of giving priority to my faith over worldly life, I shall be ready to fulfill it in all circumstance. There will be no mix of worldliness and self in my any deed.
--
So if this Eid does not remind us our duties, responsibilities, and Pledge (of Bai'at). Then it is an Eid which we are celebrating as an apparent festival. It is not becoming a means of developing Taqwa in us, and it is not developing an understanding of sacrifices. It is not informing us of our responsibilities. Without all this spirit of sacrifice, if we did sacrifice goat sheep or cattle and we ate meat and gave to relatives and friends, it will be useless in real sense.
--
Eid-Sacrifice will be beneficial, if as lesson, we fulfill our Pledge of Bai'at, place our neck before Allah, if we fulfill right of worship of Allah, if we fulfill rights of His servants, if we are thankful to Allah that He made us Muslims, and then Ahmadiyya-Muslims who has made Pledge at the hand of Imam of era, Promised Messiah, Mahdi (on whom be peace), that I shall give precedence to Deen (faith, Islam) over worldly life, and I shall be ready to sacrifice my life, wealth, progeny, honor, and time for faith, and I shall keep continuing upholding this Pledge of Bai'at with Ahmadiyya-Khilafat for pleasure of Allah the Exalted. With full open bosom, I shall honor the Pledge of Bai'at.
--
When all this will happen, Allah the Exalted gives His pleasure to such people. If such spirit is developed in us, and our deeds become according to it, we can have hope to be included in people who get glad tidings, with whom Allah is happy who get the pleasure of Allah the Exalted.
--
Mentioning the subject of above verse, its wisdom and philosophy, Hadhrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said,
If, with apparent Salaat and Fasting, there is no sincerity and truth with it, it does not have any excellence. Jogis and Sanyasis (hermits) do hard-exercises, some get their hand paralyzed (as blood circulation ends for still hand, at a place) and put themselves in difficulties and troubles, but these troubles do not give them any light, tranquility, and contentment. (as the apparent thing is done, ruhaniyat and nur from Allah is not obtained)....Rather their internal state is bad, they do bodily hard-exercise which has less connection with the inside (soul) and no effect is no their ruhaniyat (spirituality). That is why Allah the Exalted said, in the Holy Quran, ‘lain yanalllaha lahumoha wa la demaoha wa la kin yanalohuttaqwa’.i.e blood and meat of your sacrifices do not reach to Allah but taqwa is reached...... In reality God the Exalted does not like peelings, he wants kernel. .................
--
Question is that if meat and blood are not reached, only Taqwa is reached, then what is need of qurbani (animal-sacrifice). Likewise, if namaz (Salaat) and roza (Fasting) are of soul, then what is need of apparent?........... Its answer is, it is real, those people who stop using service of their bodies, souls does not acknowledge them.(i.e if there are no apparent movements, there will be no effect on soul). And the humbleness and servant-ship can not be developed in him which is the real purpose. (various states in Salaat are to make humbleness). Those who only use bodies and do not use souls, (they do not know the purpose of any worship or sacrifice) they are doing dangerous mistake. ..............God the Exalted has made the mutual connection of soul and body, and body puts effect on soul. In short, spiritual and physical systems moves parallel. When humbleness is developed in soul, then it develops in body. (when the heart is humble, it affects the soul and further effect comes in the body) and effects become apparent in the body automatically. Likewise, when the body is affected, the soul too is affected.
--
So these apparent sacrifices, are done to shake our souls, and give message that as this lesser thing is sacrificed for you, likewise station of a real believer is to act on commandments of God the Exalted Exalted, he should be ready to do every sacrifice, prepare his body and soul for sacrifice, raise standard of your Taqwa.
--
To raise the standard of Taqwa, Hazrat promised Messiah, said,
Be afraid of Allah the Exalted so much as if you die in His way. And as you slaughter the animal of sacrifice by your hand, likewise you should be slaughtered (metaphor) in the path of God. When a Taqwa is less than this level, it is still immature.
--
We should make an effort to get this station. Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be on him) and Hazrat Ismael (peace be on him) and Hazrat Hajira (peace be on her) gained this standard of Taqwa and offered that sacrifice, which is being remembered in every country of the world. ...... The sacrifice of this family has left no excuse for any person of any age or place, that how they can do sacrifice with such high standard. The man offered sacrifice, the lady offered sacrifice, and the child offered sacrifice.
--
Much bigger sacrifice (compared to averted sacrifice under the knife) by lady (Hadhrat Hajira on whom be peace) was offered as she became ready to live in the waterless barren valley with a packet of palm-dates and water-holder made of skin. That lady who treasured the life of her child more than her life, she had trust in Allah, that is why she became ready for that sacrifice.
--
That sacrifice done for God the Exalted was not wasted. She had understanding of glad tiding, she said to her husband (Hadhrat Ibrahim, on whom be peace) if you are leaving us here, by the commandment of Allah, there is no problem, do it, Allah will not waste us.
--
So sacrifice done for sake of God the Exalted is never wasted, and gladtings are obtained, a muttaqi / righteous is wrapped in the sheet of pleasure of Allah the Exalted. .....They saw it, thousands of elders and people saw it.
---
Every person who is always ready for sacrifice for God the Exalted, his thoughts and sadness change to happiness, gaining the pleasure of Allah the Exalted.
--
She became ready for her and child’s sacrifice so that she could get the pleasure of Allah the Exalted.. Allah the Exalted blessed that sacrifice such that, the sacrifice was made evergreen up to Hereafter.
--
Most of all, the greatest Prophet Hadhrat Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was born in their progeny, whose Quwat e Qudsia (attractive power of cleaning others) made such a Jama'at that everyone who believed him (man woman or child) rose to high levels of Taqwa. They became matchless examples of sacrifice-givers in the world.
--
These days Sahabah of Badr are being mentioned in Friday sermons (alislam . org). In these sermons, during the mention of Sahabah, sacrifices of women and children are also mentioned.
--
These are such models of Taqwa and sacrifices which should be written with golden words. According to saying of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) their deeds are best models for us.
---
As we believe Hadhrat Promised Messiah Mahdi (peace be on him, ardent devotee of Holy Prophet PBUH) in this era, we should make the review. Is our every virtuous act and it's standard same as those elders. Or Are we doing the effort to get that standard, which was made by Sahabah of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). We claim to be the Jama'at’ of Akhareen (later ones, Quran, ch62, v4), we have to show our examples for it.
--
By the grace of Allah the Exalted, there is the section among us, which tries to obtain this state, i.e. the state of practicing commandments of Allah that, state of practicing Taqwa, state of giving precedence to faith over worldly life......but worldliness has produced such a condition in some of us, though they pledged giving precedence to faith over worldliness, their Taqwa-state is not really practicing Taqwa, what is that state?
--
Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said, the person should observe minute details of Taqwa. Peace is in this. If he does not care about small issues, one day those small things (negligences) become big sins. Keeping views high levels of Taqwa. Minute details of Taqwa has to be observed for it.
--
His words are clear, small mistakes become large. Some people miss one Salaat, it makes them leave more Salaats. Small useless indulgences make one away from Faith. If Pledge of giving precedence to Deen over world has to be fulfilled then we have to save ourselves from all vain things.
--
About Taqwa, Hazrat promised messiahs said,
In the Holy Quran, from beginning to end, details of divine commandment and ‘do-s and do not do-s’ is present, Allah the Exalted has mentioned several hundred branches of various commands in Holy Quran. In short, I say, God, the Exalted does not want to create discord in the earth. Allah the Exalted wants Unity in the earth. However, the person who inflicts sorrow on his brother, does oppression and does trust-breaking, he is enemy of Unity. Unless these evil thoughts are removed from the heart, it is never possible true Unity may spread...... To save yourself from each evil is Taqwa.
--
One who is enemy of Unity, how can Taqwa be in him...it is a matter of great concern and fear, if we sadden our brother, we are enemy of Unity, if we break trust we are enemy of Unity, if evil thought to come in our heart, it is due to being away from Taqwa, we need to save ourselves from such thoughts, only then we can make Unity. Only then we can fulfill Pledge, which we made with Hazrat Promised Messiah, on whom be peace.
--
May Allah enable us, we practice real Taqwa, this Eid of sacrifice give us a right understanding of Taqwa, may we clean ourselves from each evil, may we understand minute details of Taqwa and make effort to get pleasure of God the Exalted, may we be among people whom God the Exalted grant glad tiding....
--
In Eid of sacrifice, remember those, in your prayers, who sacrificed their lives for Jama'at’, may Allah exalt their stations, may He keep attaching their progenies to Jama'at’ of Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace), may Allah accept prayers of martyrs for their progenies.
--
Pray for muballegheens (life-devotee missionaries) who went to far places in initial times to convey real message of Islam to nations which were living in dark.
--
May Allah give lasting sincerity and loyalty in progenies in those missionaries, pray for those who are scarifying for Faith now and conveying the message of Islam, may Allah always enable us to convey the message of Islam while practicing Taqwa always, and may they serve Faith with no impurity of self. May Allah accept their sacrifices.
--
Pray for prisoners-for-sake-of-Allah, may Allah soon make means for their release, those who are passing through long time under oppressive law (in Pakistan and other places) may Allah soon save them from oppression.
--
May Allah cover us, have mercy on us, increase each of us in Eman and Eqan (faith and surety), may we see more than before, scenes of the progress of Ahmadiyyat, the real Islam, so that we may see the happiness of real Eid, do these prayers a lot. Get increase in your Eman, do the effort to care rights of brothers, it is lesson which Eid of sacrifice gives us, may Allah enable us to practice it, amen.
Let’ do prayer,............ amin.
