Two young British lawyers (Michael Craig, Mary Peach) find romance as adversaries in a battle of the sexes.
Struggling barrister Michael Craig is a little miffed when a new (female) counsel is imposed upon him, moreover one who is the niece of his head of chambers.
It goes without saying the his resentment is soon washed away when she turns out to be both young, attractive and single.
However matters become rather complicated when they find themselves on opposite sides in a divorce case..
In which a woman seeks a divorce from a man who says he was never married to her.
And without any evidence of the marriage having taken place (on account of a lack of both a certificate and the customary records as a result of a German bomb towards the end of WWII)!
She's up to something -- but it doesn't become clear until the very end.
There are a host of welcome and familiar faces in this film, Brenda De Banzie, Liz Frazer, Ron Moody, Bill Kerr, Joan Sims, Terry Scott and Graham Stark..
But rising above them all is James Robertson Justice as the crotchety judge.
