The Unknown (1927) Silent Movie

The Unknown is a 1927 American silent horror film directed by Tod Browning, and starring Lon Chaney as carnival knife thrower "Alonzo the Armless" and Joan Crawford as his beloved carnival girl Nanon. Under the Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998, movies are copyrighted for 95 years in the US. Therefore, all American movies released in 1927 entered the public domain on January 1, 2023.
