Samira is caught, Cecile knows she soon will be. She goes to lawyer Michel Farnese (Gérard Lanvin), whose card she found during the gallery heist, and brazenly returns the wallet and asks the high powered lawyer to defend her. Michel agrees to take the case, mainly because Cécile comes from the same poor neighbourhood he worked his way out of. However his wife Viviane (Carole Bouquet) suspects that her husband has another reason for taking the case. Cécile's old boyfriend Vincent (Guillaume Canet) provides Cecile with an alibi for the robbery. He also wants her back. By this time Michel is completely besotted with Cecile.. the consequences of his actions could cost him his career and his marriage. And in the middle of all this, there is Cecile.. what are her motives - beyond getting acquitted, and playing both Vincent and Michel that is.
