Inspired by David Baldacci's novel, and the ruthlessness of people in power. President Alan Richmond believes that everything he does is beyond reproach, including an affair or two. That leads to murder and everyone around him is involved. There is only one witness, a thief named Luther Whitney. They are sure he'll talk, but when? The Secret Service is determined to keep him quiet, but catching a thief isn't always easy. Movie Trivia The movie features two of Clint Eastwood's daughters in very minor roles: Kimber Eastwood (born Kimber Tunis) and Alison Eastwood. The casting of Kimber raised a lot of eyebrows since Clint had never spoken publicly of her existence. He still hasn't, actually, but her presence in this film and billing under the surname Eastwood constitutes his acknowledgment. Clint Eastwood's extremely organized methods of directing led to filming being completed over three weeks ahead of schedule and $2-4 million under budget. The location of Luther's hideout was filmed at writer Christopher Hitchens' Washington, D.C. apartment. This movie, Shadow Conspiracy (1997) and Murder at 1600 (1997), three political murder mystery suspense thrillers centering around the U.S. President and the White House, were released in the same year. The hospital scenes were filmed using the set for ER (1994).
