Christiane F. (1981) w/Eng subs 720p 131min version
aka: Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo (1981)
Drama | Biography | West Germany | German w/Eng subs | 131min
Cast: Eberhard Auriga, Natja Brunckhorst, Peggy Bussieck
German biographical drama that portrays the descent of Vera Christiane Felscherinow, a bored 13-year-old growing up in mid-1970s West Berlin, to 14-year-old heroin addict.
Based on the 1978 non-fiction book Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo (translation: We Children from Zoo Station), the film features David Bowie as both composer and as himself in concert.
This movie portrays the drug scene in Berlin in the 1970s, following tape recordings of Christiane F. 14-year-old Christiane lives with her mother and little sister in a typical multi-story apartment building in Berlin. She's fascinated by 'The Sound', a new disco with the most modern equipment. Although legally she's too young, she asks a friend to take her. There, she meets Detlef, who's in a clique where everybody's on drugs. Step by step she gets drawn deeper into the scene.
The real Christiane F. is Christiane Vera Felscherinow (b.1962), a German actress and musician who is best known for her contribution to the 1978 autobiographical book 'Zoo Station: The Story of Christiane F. (original: Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo)', and the film based on the book, in which her teenage drug use is documented. Her life after the book and movie has been even more harrowing than portrayed in the film.
