Part 2 of 2 of the Lynda La Plante mystery. Jane Tennison is now convinced that the murder of a rent boy in a burnt out flat is connected in some way to a paedophile gang that could involve someone in the police force. After the death of another homeless child prostitute, she has a prime suspect in pimp Jimmy Jackson, but is hindered by the fact that he has an alibi. Yet as she is continually hindered by her own superiors, an attempted murder on one of her own seems to give her the break she needs. But is she being unwittingly misled in the wrong direction?
Starring Helen Mirren, Tom Bell, Mark Strong, Struan Rodger, Terence Hardiman, David Thewlis, Ciaran Hinds, Alyson Spiro, Terence Harvey, Rowena Cooper, Kelly Hunter, Peter Capaldi, Karen Tomlin, Andrew Woodall, Richard Hawley, Philip Wright, Liza Sadovy, Mark Drewry, James Frain, Christopher Fairbank, Andrew Dicks, Pierce Quigley, John Benfield, plus keep an eye out for an appearance by Jonny Lee Miller as Anthony Field. This was originally broadcast over two days on December 19th/20th 1993 and was the last ever Prime Suspect written by Lynda La Plante, who left on acrimonious terms due to interference by scriptwriters and producers. It's a fine mystery to end her time on, but it remains a dark and disturbing case for so many reasons - not least for Ciaran Hinds' hairdo! Please note that this contains swearing, violence and some nudity.
