Part 2 of 7 of the acclaimed TV series from 1981. As the Grants try to establish their new plantation, they gain new neighbours in Hereward and Lettice Palmer. However, Lettice soon becomes terribly homesick and is convinced that they have made a terrible mistake, but her husband, a former British Indian Army officer, is determined to make it in Africa and refuses to listen to her. But things take a shocking turn when there is a murder on their farmland...
Starring Hayley Mills, David Robb, Holly Aird, Sharon Maughan, Nicholas Jones, William Morgan Sheppard, John Nettleton, Steve Mwenesi, Nick Chege and Mzee Pembe. I came across this in an old charity shop a few years ago, and the TV series itself has not been repeated since the 1980's. This may account for the slighty grainy picture, so apologies in advance, but it cannot be helped. Holly Aird, who plays Elspeth in this, related in one newspaper interview many years ago that she once sustained a bad injury when filming this when she fell off her horse and cut open her lip. It was only the skilled actions of a surgeon nearby that prevented it from being a serious facial injury. The drama, you may like to know, was filmed entirely on location in Kenya.
