A one off comedy pilot from the Comedy Playhouse. Sherlock Holmes receives a letter from a Lady Cynthia urging him to come to her home as her family is being killed off one by one via a poisonous snake. But before he and Dr Watson can proceed, they are diverted by the police to investigate the curious case of four solicitors, all found dead slumped over their desks in their office with a knife in their back!
Starring John Cleese, Willie Rushton, Josephine Tewson, Norman Bird, Michael Knowles, Larry Martyn, Bill Maynard, Michael Gover, Chic Murray, John Wells, Helen Lambert, Rosemary Lord, Ivor Salter, Rose Hill, Colin Bean, Norman Faith, plus guest appearances by Frank Muir and Dawn Addams. As mentioned, this is from the Comedy Playhouse which tested out episodes for future sitcoms. This is a surreal comedy that was unlikely to of been a series, but it does have a curious case of familiar faces from that period. Any comedy featuring John Cleese and Willie Rushton as Holmes and Watson has to be worth a look, and it does have some amusing moments, but it's strangeness means this is likely to be an acquired taste for some. Bill Maynard's appearance is certainly worth a glance! Apologies also for the quality, as well as the LTCR code at the bottom, but it is how I found it and I can find no other copy of quality.
