Τhe theatrical teleplay is based on the story KNIGHT'S GHAMBIT (TO TEXNAΣΜΑ ΤOΥ ΙΠΠΟΤΗ), written in 1949 by the famous American author and playwright William Faukner.
The story was adapted for TV (under the title WILD STALLION/ΑΓΡΙΟΣ ΕΠΙΒΗΤΩΡ) by the American actor, playwright and screenwriter DeWitt Bodeen (who later became became an historian of Hollywood and the film industry).
The movie was directed by the American director and producer Herbert B. Swope Jr. (son of the great journalist and Pulitzer winner, Herbert Bayard Swope).
