Already for 700 years the Circassians live on the Holy Land , in Galilee: Kfar Kama and Rayhan.
The fate of the Circassians reminds me of the fate of the Jews nation. The expulsion and the loss of their homeland, life in a foreign land, the ability to understand the mentality of the country in which they live, the ability to preserve their language, culture and national identity.
The first Circassians came to the Holy Land during the reign of the Mamluks from Caucasus.
Kfar Kama village is built in similar of both the Greek and Turkish style. The Sidewalks lined with white and black stones, a mosque built in the Turkish style –decoration of tiles in black and white stripes. Furthermore In the village there is a museum of Circassians nation history.
From 1958, the Circassians men start serve in the IDF.
The kids are educated in the traditions of their nation beside the regular educational system.
The all Circassians in the world are long for the Caucasus as their awaited Homeland.
Today, Israel is home to about four thousand Circassians. It is almost a closed society, with their unique traditions, holidays, and avoiding mixed marriage.
The hero of the movie - Aibek, a Circassian-Sunni, is Israeli Police officer. It works in the "Old City" of Jerusalem - keeps order in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Initially, the Circassians were Christians, which heavily influenced by the Byzantine Empire, and only later converted to Islam.
All the time come up the voice, in the spirit of their ancestors, to return to their native mountains, their homeland country. But is it still a dream and it's the hardest dilemma…
