Macbeth (Act II, Scene 2 and Act V, Scene 1) is a 1945 British historical drama film. It features Wilfrid Lawson, Cathleen Nesbitt, Felix Aylmer, and Catherine Lacey.
A staging of Act II Scene 2, the murder scene, and Act V Scene 1, with Lady Macbeth and that damned spot from Shakespeare's famous tragedy. Wilfrid Lawson and Cathleen Nesbitt make a fine murderous duo in the first scene. Cathleen Nesbitt is joined by Felix Aylmer and Catherine Lacey in the sleepwalking scene.
The excerpts from Shakespeare have been filmed in order to enable those who have no opportunity of attending performances of Shakespearean plays in a theatre to see how the various parts are played by leading English actors and actresses. This is one of two short films produced under the umbrella title Famous Scenes from Shakespeare, the other being, Julius Caesar.
