Toward The Unknown 1956. William Holden, James Garner, Lloyd Nolan, Virginia Leith, Charles McGraw, Karen Steele It's early in the Cold War, and no job is more important than Air Force test pilot. Major Lincoln Bond (William Holden) is an ace flier, but because he was a captive during the Korean War, Brig. Gen. Bill Banner (Lloyd Nolan) thinks the emotionally wounded Bond isn't ready for the job. Making matters worse for Bond, his ex-girlfriend, Connie (Virginia Leith), is spending her free time with Banner. But, in a series of dramatic events, Bond impresses fellow pilots and earthbound observers.
