The Lady And The Mob 1939. Ida Lupino, Fay Bainter, Lee Bowman
When Fred Leonard (Lee Bowman) sends his fiancée, Lila (Ida Lupino), to meet his disapproving mother, Hattie (Fay Bainter), the timing couldn't be worse. Hattie has just discovered that her local laundry is being squeezed by the mob and, tough cookie that she is, decides to combat them by forming a mob of her own with the help of a reformed crook (Warren Hymer). As for her prospective daughter-in-law, Hattie doesn't think much of her -- until Lila decides she'd like to join the mob too.
