In this tutorial, I show how to make chinese style paper fuse. This type of fuse is used in most commercial firecrackers. It is fairly simple to make once you get the hang of rolling it up, in fact the hardest part is probably getting the Japanese tissue paper. This type of tissue has long fibers and good strength even when wet, making it ideal for fuse-making. A detail that I didn't mention in the video is that when you slice the tissue paper into strips, it must be done in the direction of the grain of the paper so that it retains it's strength. Also, you can control the thickness of the fuse by controlling the thickness of the black powder trail, but don't make the fuse too skinny or it will tend to burn weakly and go out. The thin fuse that I showed near the end of the video is approximately as thin as you can make them without compromising the burn strength. This type of fuse is great for small firecrackers, bottle rockets, and other fireworks that require a small fuse.
