Ulster's Freedom Corner Mural on the Newtownards Road in east Belfast

As a loyalist area, murals in and around the Newtownards Road have featured strong messages of resistance to the Irish republican cause.  ‘Ulster’s Freedom Corner’ is the name given to four murals on the lower Newtownards Road, which is situated within feet of the Newtownards Road-Short Strand interface.  These murals are considered among some of the most striking murals in Belfast, due to the emotive and evocative messages they present.
