The aim here is definitely the definition of a local and orginal style. Both for the famous brand and the new talentsLanding in Minsk is like landing in the unknown, style-wise – of the entire Eastern Europe, Belarus is the only country whose fashion and contemporary trends we know very little of and, as a consequence, everything can turn into a rather interesting experience. One is instantly invaded by a strong creative energy: Minsk wants to be known, from every angle, including arts, fashion, design, architecture. And our three days in the capital city have truly been a full immersion in a new world, ready to be discovered. The aim here, looking at the collections shown at Belarus Fashion Week, is definitely the definition of a local style. On one side we spot a strong feminine vibe enhanced by fitted, intriguing dresses, featuring super-delicate tulle, florals, pastel or natural hues. It’s the case of well-known local brands like Candy Lady by Olga Barabanschikova, EMSE, Alena Goretskaya, that focus on ready-to-wear with an approach that evokes 50s couture: fine materials and classic silhouettes. On the other side, we also saw designers with a more contemporary attitude in terms of design and materials: see Ton-in-Ton, Mark Formelle by Vasjuchenka & Starikova and Fur Garden. These three very different brands cater for a younger market and carefully combine beauty with functionality – ample proportions, comfy materials (cashmere, fleece, cotton), prints and unfinished hems. But Belorus Fahion Week this year, however, has become a great opportunity also for very young designers, and even brands established very few months earlier, to showcase their collections via off-schedule installations. http://www.vogue.it/en/vogue-talents/news/2017/06/01/belarus-fashion-week-minsk-yanina-goncharova/ #fashion #мода
